Funny How That Works...

I called AT&T the other day because I saw the $14.99 Basic DSL deal on TV. As always, the customer service rep told me it was for new customers only. Of course my response was something along the lines of "so you're screwing your loyal customers to get new customers". It's what I normally say of AT&T. Due to the "monopoly" nature of telecommunications services, I've been a(n) (in)direct AT&T customer for longer than I'd like to think. (>.<) As always, she tried to upsell by suggesting bundles. Anyway, I asked for the corporate number and give them a call. The guy @ corporate gave me the same line, but said he'd check on it for me. Few minutes later he told that it was already changed that day. (O.o) Funny how that worked out... I guess all that talk of them monitoring your call is true. I guess they figured it was just easier to shut me up by giving me the deal. (^_^)/~~ Give them a call if you're on their $19.95 Basic Plan and want the lower price. YMMV.

Yeah, I don't want to pay more for higher speed. Call me cheap or whatever, but in other countries that kind of money gets you 50Mbs or higher speed not 6Mbs... I'm not paying them for crappy service just because they got the regulators and Congress in their pocket. I get free Internet access from work anyway and it's faster than what I pay for. Now you also get free WiFi at AT&T Hotspots as an AT&T DSL subscriber.

Sucky Businesses

I was visiting my senpai the other day and he was telling me how this place called BrewBakers Brew Pub in Huntington Beach, CA was trying to rip his climbing club off. The manager of the place sounded like a real dick. His group was brewing some beer there for their upcoming convention and they called to make sure everything was ready. The manager said it was and when they got there he tried the old bait and switch by saying he didn't have the right bottles in stock and tried to charge them more. The guy promised to make things right in the end after bitching and grumbling, but reneged on his promise. senpai said they'll never go back to that place again.

It reminded me of my recent experience at Fix Auto in Buena Park, CA. Someone rear ended me recently. (>.<) Well, at least they didn't try to kill me like the SS. Anyway, I had my car fixed at Fix Auto, but they didn't check everything and I had to go back. They also left tapes to cover things for painting and bent my antenna. The manager was all apologetic and nice about it and promised to make it right. Of course it was all words and no action. I had to follow up with him couple of times, but I got no results. I had to call the corporate office and got results. It's another one of those places I wouldn't ever go again.

You shouldn't go to these kinds of places, unless you enjoy being ripped off by your local businesses.

People Are Complaining. (>.<)

Another friend complained today that I haven't been blogging lately. (>.<) I guess I better get on it. I guess I need a better work/life balance... This week was a little brutal... Next week should be much more relaxing. (^_^)/~~

I forgot what I was going to blog about. (>.<) Oh well, it'll come to me sooner or later. If not I'll think of something else.
