I recently saw the Serial Experiments Lain cartoon. I only saw it because some people have told me how "great" or "awesome" it is. I have only one word to describe it: lame.
I didn't like the style of animation. The story was bleh. Only things I liked about it were the ubiquitous bear that seems to be everywhere and the stuffed animal collection by the window and the Japanglish "Present day, present time" bit. (Not surprising since I love the "puresute-shon" bit at the end of Playstation commercials.)
I was waiting for it to get better or fun or exciting or something, but it never did. It was totally bleh. I wouldn't recommend it. I had much much more fun watching ラブひな (Love Hina). It was funny even if it was oh so different from the comic book.

Sony Broke My Privacy Filter
Aaarrrrggghhhh!!! I just finished filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I got off the phone with Sony before that. They were giving me such a run around. It would be really refreshing to see a company fess up to their screw up instead of trying to shove it on you.
I opened up newly repaired laptop to find the privacy filter stuck in backwards. The side that should be facing the LCD was facing me. The two side have different surface textures, so it's really easy to tell. To my dismay there's smudges and finger prints all over the thing. It wasn't even in quite right... I took it out. Under better lighting I could tell that there's scratches galore and the tabs are worn on the LCD side. How the hell do tabs get worn on the side that sits on the LCD!! LCD screens are not rough!!
I called Sony and they are telling me that their techs aren't trained to deal with privacy filters. They say the notes don't say anything about my conversation with the other tech that told me to ship my laptop with the privacy filter. Who's fault is that their techs are under trained and support staff do sloppy work? Their response is that since they don't know when the damage occurred, they are not responsible. I wanted to talk to a supervisor and the guy asked me about three or four times if I wanted talk to a supervisor. Was he dense or what? He said a supervisor would get back to me after 2 to 3 days. So while I wait, I figured I file a complaint with the BBB.
I never got this much trouble dealing with other companies except SonyStyle and it was about the same privacy filter. I guess it runs in the family. It did get resolved to my satisfaction after about a month with the BBB being involved. Hopefully the BBB will lead to a swift resolution again.

The US Secret Service Is Incompetent
I just got a call from my lawyer's office. They told me they got a call from the US Secret Service agent in charge of my case. He told them that he talked with the office in DC and they told him that they never got the paperwork he sent so he's sending it in again. This happened to my lawyer too. He told me beginning of the year that they told him they never received any of the paperwork he sent them. He had to send everything again. At least they are careless or klutzy if not incompetent.
I guess people do listen to the wire tap... I was telling my friend on Friday I would have to contact my Congresswoman for support, contact the local media, and try to drum up support on the Internet. Now I'm going to have to revise my casework request before I mail it in. If you need help dealing with federal government, ask your Senator. Look for casework on their page.
On a lighter note, I discovered a cute girl. I was channel surfing Saturday night and caught the tail end of some Japanese show. It was pretty good, but I had no idea who the actress was or what the show was called. So I spent next few minutes googling. I finally tracked her down after a while. I found my answer on the Fuji TV's Japanese website. It's 2nd part of a four part series of short little dramas that look at lives of four different woman. I missed the first one. (T.T) It started 上戸彩 (ueto aya). The one I saw was called ライブチャット (live chat). The girl's name is 堀北真希 (horikita maki).
Oh, my laptop came back as I was writing this. Better go check it out.

SS Is Mean
(>.<) I hate dealing with the SS. They are evil...
I talked to my lawyer earlier this week and he said it looks like he'll have to sue the SS to pay for the accident they caused. (In case you're wondering who the SS is, it's the US Secret Service.) I think I need to ask for some outside help... I'll have to clear it with my lawyer first.
I was talking to my friend this week and it sounded like the phone was tapped. I'm wondering if the spooks are tapping her phone or mine or both...
I got my laptop back from repair, but I had to send it back because they didn't resolve some of the issues and seemed to have aggravated one... This time it's taking a lot longer. Maybe the SS or the NSA or someone is putting in some custom electronics to monitor my laptop. (T_T) I like my laptop... (T_T)
Anyone want to donate a bug free laptop? Something fairly new and weighing under 3 lbs would be nice.
