A Bit Too Critical

I was watching TV a week or two ago. I saw some big girl on some show. I was channel surfing. When I say big, I don't mean she was huge. I mean she wasn't a little girl. I'd probably say she was in her early thirties. I could be wrong. She looked pretty good. She was one of those girls that look mature. Not the cutesy type. She was one of those girls more along the classical beauty line. Like I said, she looked pretty good until they went in for a closeup. She had a lot of makeup on, but that was to be expected. What was unexpected was couple of blemishes on her face under all that makeup. I couldn't help but dwell on it. As I was thinking about it, I couldn't help but think "man, I am really critical" to myself. It's something that comes up on occasion during conversation with my friends. They say the girl I'm looking for doesn't exist. (>.<) They say I should lower my standards and settle. XD I guy can dream, can't he? My favorite line from Lord of War was "That's the trouble with falling in love with a dream girl. They have a habit of becoming real." and I'm hoping mine becomes a reality. (^_^);;

Black Day

I was looking up something on Wikipedia. I was trying to figure out how to spell "Broflovski". I was on the South Park page. About an hour later, I found myself at the Black Day page. This lead to a lol moment. I totally forgot about it. Have fun if you're celebrating Black Day. (>.<) At least 짜장면 (jja-jang myeon) is yummy. I heard it made it back to China and is very popular there. So cheap...

Super Creeptastic

I'm sure you remember IKE IKE by HINOIチーム (HINOI TEAM). I'm sure you remember my comment about パラパラ (para para) as well. Anyway, this is from NIGHT OF FIRE (パラパラVersion). It features a guy named コリッキー (korikki-).

Not to be judgmental or anything, but I find the guy a little creepy to say the least. I couldn't help but wonder if that's what a pedophile looks like. If I had a teenage daughter, I wouldn't let her play with him. I wouldn't let my teenage son play with him either if I had one. I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels this way...

Is this some kind of marketing angle for the Japanese market? They are really big on the whole lolita thing. I heard モーニング娘。(Morning musume) is popular with older guys. (Scroll down on the artist list.) My friend told me her father had one of their songs as his ringtone to her dismay. Although mo-musu is older than HINOIチーム. Well, you get the idea. I was just creeped out by this guy. Also I think it just ruins the cuteness of the group. Look at that gut. (O_x) I liked IKE IKE, but I think I'll stop being a fan. I don't like the direction they are going. If I wanted to see some overweight guy in some scanty outfit, hmmm, I'm not sure. It never occurred to me to look for something like that. Cute=good, but fat guy=NOT CUTE. (>.<) I could point you to bunch of cute gravure idols, singers, etc. but I'm at a loss when it comes to scantily clad overweight guys. Oh, I know, sumo. XD No offense meant to the sumo guys. Sorry to drag you guys into this.

Catching up on Movies

I saw few movies that have been on my short list of movies I thought that might be interesting. I was wrong in most cases. I don't even know if I would spend the money for rental on most of them. They got a lot of press, but they were okay movies at best. I did like one movie out of four or five I watched recently. Lord of War was totally worth the time. If you haven't seen it, it's worth seeing. My only gripe is with the opening sequence. They could and should have done a better job with it. Nice idea, but poor execution in my opinion. It doesn't detract from the movie much. Oh, I liked March of the Penguins as well, but I don't know if I want to own that one... (Well, I might get a copy if I see it cheap.)

I'm going to have to go find a copy of Lord of War. Hopefully I can find a copy for a decent price. My friend mentioned some used DVD place that has good selection and good price. I'll have to check it out. It'll be my 3rd movie. Hahaha, I make a terrible DVD consumer. Well, at least I bought the first two new, even if I bought them like five years ago. I think one of them was on sale... Come to think of it, I think I bought those when Warehouse was going out of business for cheap. Hahaha, I really don't buy many movies. I don't like DRM and I don't feel like spending $20 for a piece of aluminum sandwiched between couple pieces of plastic. (^_^);;; I think it's overpriced. If it was like $5-10 without DRM, I would probably have a collection as big as my CD collection. (Yeah, I know I can get $3 ones overseas, but it just doesn't look right. Quality just doesn't cut it. Heck, I don't even buy the legit avex CD's from Taiwan. They are cheaper than the avex Japan ones and my Japanese friends buy them 'cause they are cheaper. I like originals even if I have to pay a little more or just do without. Reason why I didn't pick up any knock offs on my last trip.)

Oh, I bought couple of DVD's as gifts a few years ago. Completely forgot about those... It was Monster's Inc. and something else. I don't think I spent too much on them. I don't remember too well. I think I bought them where I found them for the lowest price. I mostly watch movies on TV, cable, family member's DVD or friend's DVD. There are times when I don't step foot in a theater for couple of years. I guess I make a terrible movie consumer in general. (^_^) I think I used to go to the theater a lot more when matinee price was like $3.50. It's too expensive and a lot of movies aren't really worth seeing on the big screen.

As far as I know, I have only one Japanese used CD (from my last trip) with DRM on it. I didn't even notice it when I bought it. It was probably $3-5. I start to care less about things at that price point.
